    Am 66 now. Took Fosamax for about 6 years then underwent a hip replacement 2 1/2 years ago when Orthopaedic surgeon discovered my femur had small fracture. This he attributed to Fosamax. Did 2 years of Forteo injections and now my bone density is back to normal. My Primary care DR wants me to start Prolia now. Am very concerned it will have same effect as Fosamax?!Please help with some advice…

      I am 70 and have osteoporosis and am fearful of actonel and prolia.
      Not clear about your program as I am also considering bioidentical hormones and other vit d etc.
      If it was just diet why would not all the Drs do it? Not clear if this really works based on one testimonial

    I paid $67 for the Osteoporosis Reversal Program but do not understand the form in which I am to receive this information. The emails that I receive seem to be inviting me to buy the program, which I have already done. I don’t know how to find out about the nutrition aspect (the recipe book), for instance, only how to buy it, or information about TruOsteo. I’m confused about all of this. Many thanks for your help.

    I recently bought the program. Even before starting I have a question on supplements. My osteoporosis may be a direct result of gastric bypass surgery and mal-absorption. I am wondering what supplements you recommend that are easily absorbed.

    On your website, we are encouraged to get Vivian’s program, but I have dietary issues and can’t everything that would be included in the program. There might be recipes I couldn’t try because I have IBS. I’m on Sherry Brescia’s(R.N.) Great Taste No Pain eating plan. It involves eating certain foods together at meals and for snacks. Fruit is eaten only by itself, a half hour before a meal or three hours after a meal. It can’t be eaten in a pie or cake. I can never eat carbs of any kind with meat, or I will have IBS symptoms, such as diarrhea. This plan, along with digestive enzymes and probiotics has kept my IBS from flaring up. It’s also alkaline in nature. I’d love to try certain recipes Vivian might suggest, such as bone-building smoothies, but I can’t combine the ingredients recommended in the recipes and smoothies. I take a good bone formula, plus other supplements and have a formal exercise program twice a week. I also do some of Vivian’s exercises. I hope I’m doing enough to increase my bone mass.

      I would love to know more about what your plan includes since I too have IBSD and GERD, I have stop taking Prilosec daily because it also causes osteoporosis, I only take it as needed now. I have osteoporosis in L5 and my hips at a -3.1. If u can reply Karla I would appreciate it. Vivian replied as you can read after my name and it seems we can eat some of the things her program offers and it might even help with our GI issues.

      I also have IBSD and acid reflux which makes it difficult for me to follow this diet, the exercises are wonderful but I cannot eat all the vegetables and or fruits without getting sick. I have tried and even with my Prilosec everyday my stomach kills me. I wish there were a way for those of us that suffer with other disease processes could get on board with this diet, maybe cutting out some of the acidic foods or given us choices of acidic foods that actually will not upset our GI tract. Please Vivian, respond to this message, I want to follow your plan on a modified basis.

        Hi Susan,

        If because of other health conditions you can’t eat certain foods, that doesn’t mean you can’t follow the Program. If you have a problem with a particular food or group of foods, you don’t have to eat it (or them) in order to be successful. There is such a wide variety of foods you can eat on the pH-balanced diet that you shouldn’t have any trouble tailoring the nutritional plan to fit your needs. And you may find, as others on the Program have, that your gut begins to heal on a pH-balanced diet, and you can add in other foods as you go along. 🙂

    I am using the natural way to my bone increase and believe I will achieve an increase. At present my bone DEXA scan is -4.2.

    Even if there is no difference in my bone scan in 18 months time I will definitely not be taking any type of bishphosphate.

    Has anyone had experience with Prolia injections every six months. I was on Fosamax for a number of years and then on Actonel for 2 years. My bone density initially improved the first year I was on Actonel and then the second year deteriorated again. I was also having pain in my thigh bone. That is when the doctor suggested changing to Prolia. I decided to go off all medication and try to improved through diet & exercise. Also seeing a naturopathic doctor. I also joined the Save our Bones program. The first year off of medication my bone density improved. The second year it deteriorated again. Again my doctor has suggested Prolia. I’m reluctant but would like to know the experience of other people who have tried Prolia or are taking it. Thanks

      Hi there: I took Actonel for 5 years and then Dr put me
      on Prolia for two years. Did absolutely nothing to help
      with bone density – did not have any side effects of any
      kind but unfortunately didn’t help me.

    I have ordered your program as I want to read more about it. I currently am taking Actonel and have been on it for close to 5 years. I find that I have lots of joint and bone pain, some aid reflux problems and believe this may be the culprit, but I am not sure as I also take Methotrexate injections for Crohn’s disease. I have been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease for over 30 years. I was on many different medications through the years that damaged my bone density mainly steroids for flails in my disease. For 4 years I was put on different biologic medicines that were supposed to help with my Crohn’s symptoms, but in the long run ended up giving me Lupus type symptoms. I currently have been on Methotrexate injections once a week 1mg. Injected subcutaneous once a week for 1 year six months. I also take folic acid, vitamin D3 5000 mg., iron, and fish oil. I just want to be able to be rid of the stiffness and pain I contend with daily. My age is 58.

    Hi, I have just found out my mother has osteoporosis. She is 53 years old and has had a hysterectomy and is going through menopause. Her osteoporosis is in her lumbar and thoracic and is at 2.7%. The doctors want to put her on 6 monthly injections called Prolia. We have been going to naturopaths but can’t find anyone worth while talking too. We live in Australia and I was wondering if you know any specialists who treat patients with osteoporosis naturally such as yourself. I have got your book and print off your emails daily. Could you please recommend anybody? We are desperate for help and peace of mind. Thankyou! Hope to hear from you asap.

      Hi Rahna,
      I also live in Australia and have been diagnosed with osteoporosis following a serious break from a bike accident. My doctor prescribed prolia and I wanted to try alternatives first before committing to this drug.
      Online I found the “bone clinic” which operates out of Brisbane and describes itself as a world first treatment centre for osteoporosis. I have joined their online exercise program before having my first appointment and assessment early 2018. It looks very promising. Look up “boneclinic”online.

    Hello,

    I stumbled upon your website looking for a supplement for my daughter. I have been drawn to your great information.

    My daughter is 30 and has a disability. She has significant osteoporosis! Her Vit D level is low. But calcium level ok. Her Dr. is recommending 2000 IU of Vit D3 and 2000mg calcium. From my research I am finding that Calcium Citrate is better than Carbonate. I am confused about Coral Calcium. Is it better and or stronger? Also she needs a liquid preferably or a chewable. I have found some but they have lots of additives sugar etc. Any ideas?

    Also how much magnesium, zinc, manganese, boron etc is recommended for someone with osteoporosis?

      You are on the right track about calcium carbonate – it is not easily absorbed by the body.         Thank you! Is the True Osteo a capsule that can be opened and added to liquid or applesauce. She cannot swallow a capsule so for her it needs to be chewable, liquid or a powder. I hope it will work because it is the best and only one I have found that includes the Vit K.

        Her Dr. did recommend 2000 IU Vit D3 and 2000 mg calcium. So it looks like this still won’t give her enough but maybe he is asking her to take too much.

        She also can’t do the exercises due to her disability.

        I am happy that I found your website.

    Im declared by WHO to have bad osteoporosis. Doc said take aledronic acid ! My whole mid section was on fire. Now she says take Protos nightly. But I have just found this site !!! Much prefer to try buy the book somehow. Karin in zambia africa

    What I have read on UK nutrition sites recommends around 800 mgs of elemental calcium per day for older women, whereas the amount recommended in the US is 1200 mgs.

    If anyone is familiar with this difference and the reason for it, I would love to hear the answer.

    I’ve asked my doctor and she has no answer.

    Unfortunately, I cannot eat yogurt, buttermilk or sour cream (any of those dairy products are too sour or smelly for me). I drink almond milk, but is that enough?

      Don’t be concerned, Dora – you don’t have to eat dairy products to obtain lots of calcium from your diet! Vegetables like broccoli and kale are rich in calcium, and a good, plant-based calcium supplement can make up for any deficiencies. 🙂

    I take a yoga class 2x a week & walk 2 miles 4 days a week.
    I take the algae calcium with other bone healthy vit. included but seem to have a hard time eating correctly.
    Is the excercise program I am following enough? Please advise. Was wondering if I should carry small weights when walking?

      Joyce, exercise is a very important component of bone health! But so is nutrition. 🙂 I hope you’ll discover some of the really yummy, bone-healthy foods that are part of the Osteoporosis Reversal Program!

      I do not recommend ankle weights while walking; they can actually cause too much stress on the joints. However, wearing wrist or ankle weights while moving around the house can be beneficial. 🙂

    I’m currently taking Fosamax. I’ve read how bad it is for your body. I’ve talked to my doctor about it but he replied, well if you don’t take it you will become cripple.
    I would like to stop taking it, but I’m afraid, I don’t want to become cripple.

      I have not tried Vivian’s program.

      I am not a doctor.

      I don’t know what alternative to Fosamax to recommend.

      I can say that I don’t personally trust high tech pills too much and would surrender to them only after I have exhausted nutrition and exercise (rest, walking, yoga, whatever) and some of the safer alternatives. I place the onus on me to study my body attentively, change my behavior as I think is necessary, and research on the wonderful world of the Internet, first. It’s a judgement call, and it depends how much you prefer to trust someone else who really has very little to lose if you get worse slowly.

      Consider giving alternatives a try, then return to Fosamax if necessary, then try something else, etc.

      At a minimum, research what you can on Fosamax and on any alternatives to it. Then apply that information to your situation.

      Talk to your doctor about your alternative game plan if you feel more comfortable that way, but if the doctor doesn’t agree, challenge the doctor — for the sake of your life and very troubled mind — to give you the resources/papers s/he is using to make the Fosamax recommendation. If you doctor won’t give you anything useful or convincing to you personally, s/he loses some credibility to judge your alternative plan. [And you can always return to Fosamax later.]

      BTW, I came across Dr. Fuhrman recently (g-bombs), and really find his message convincing. You can google for youtube videos or other material. Basically, he has seen in his patients a world of difference between those who follow the traditional approach to medicine and those who resolve to get good proven nutrition. High tech food processing has apparently cheated us on most of the important nutrients found in nature. HInt, it’s a lot more than the 50 or so essential vitamins and minerals. The proof of the failure of the American diet is in hundreds of studies, in impressive testimonials, and in numbers that make the industry look bad (eg, such as the horrendous rates of worsening cancer, and horrible diabetes, high blood pressure, etc, in the western world, especially in comparison to many more primitive societies and societies that have not yet adopted the American diet, many of which are almost immune to some of these diseases).

      You also may already know from this website or others that many groups of people have stronger bones by relying on seeds, nuts, and other natural foods instead of dairy and supplements. [Also, I would not recommend taking too much calcium. I personally have reacted badly to calcium supplements since I already get plenty from food. My bones would hurt and be sensitive to pressure only when I take the supplements (which I have on very few occasions).]

      Diet aside, may I strongly recommend you consider taking 5000 IU of vitamin d3 supplement. [The alternative is to get UVB in proper doses, something difficult to do for most people.] Google for this 5000 number if you fear it is too large. And you may want to look as well at the researchers interviewed in many short videos by grassrootshealth.

      I have had lots of success with vitamin d3 in relieving body discomfort and pain (including chest pressure and skipped heartbeats) and in speeding up a heel injury I have been nursing for many months before recently starting up on supplements . [I have to walk a lot every day and haven’t been able to afford taking a long vacation to allow the heel (probably partially fractured) to heal. Just as almost predicted, my injury occurred in March.. the time when vitamin d is lowest in our bodies.]

    I have recently been prescribed Boniva for osteopenia. My numbers are not bad, but the doctor wanted me to take this medication because of the pattern she has seen over the past six years on my bone density scans. The Boniva made me very sick and I told her I was not willing to take it. She then prescribed IV Boniva (injection once every three months)which I have not started yet. My accupuncturist has advised me not to take it, my pharmacist said she would think it through before starting this, but my gynecologist insists that this would be in my best interest.
    I don’t know what to do or who to believe.

    I, too, have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and have felt frightened. I bought the Saveourbones Programme last year and have yet to have another test. I am not finding it easy but am doing it to the best of my ability. Living in the UK has proved a little challenging finding the right supplements. I wonder how other Brits have managed. It would be nice to talk to others in the SOB community but I guess this is the next best thing.
