Had non of the gastric side effects I had been warned about. I woke in the middle of the night Saturday night with pain in my rib cage area. By Sunday afternoon I was in the ER with totally incapacitating pain in my rib cage. I felt like I could not even take a breath. I went for something for pain relief. However, upon arriving, they found my blood pressure (which is always below 120/80) to be 200/120 and rising, and my heart rate to be over 100 and rising. I ended up spending the night and all the next day in the hospital getting those under control and the pain manageable by oral meds. I went for my yearly check up, and my doctor gave me a sample of the drug 150mg once a month. Within 48 hours after taking it, I ended up being rushed to the ER. I had every symptom of a heart attack. Severe chest pain, shoulder pain, neck, and jaw pain. I could barely even lift my arms. It was a terrible experience! All my lab work, EkG, x rays came out ok. I know it was the Boniva even though the doctor wouldn't come right out and say for sure. I will never take it again. I would like to share an experience that happened to me after taking Boniva.
