Yes, Darlene, taking all processed foods, especially artificial sweeteners, and sugars will start to make a significant difference.

I'm willing to give you some more help with this if you'd like to contact me at alaskan_treasures@hotmail.com.

I have been doing research on Osteoporosis Meds (prescript) and are finding their ingredients are those in bleach, laundry soap, industrial factory agents, etc. Reports are showing that Boniva [and others like it] do not sustain the bone (a living entity of the body), but in fact, these drugs harden them..almost like pouring plaster over a sponge, damaging it. I am doing research to find out what the natural way would be to assist with Osteopina and Osteoporosis.

Hello, Ladies.
I'm 38 years old and underwent a complete abdominal hysterectomy in Dec. 2008 (a year and 5 months ago). Three hours after surgery, I went into full-blown Menopause. Talk about sending my body into a 'What the Hell did you do to me' Moment, I wanted to smoke that hypothetical, imaginary cigarette all the time! Every feel like that? To make matters worse, I have been a Type 1 Diabetic since age 6 (another metabolic mess, just like the hysterectomy). I have yet to find another gal out there who fits this profile. Though a Type 1 Diabetic, for years, I've been in great shape (watched my weight, ate right, and had little to none of the traditional complications from the Diabetes. However, after the hysterectomy, I'm falling a part. I've gained 25 pounds (at 150 pounds now and continuing to gain), my joints are acting weird (even my hands are taking on a gnarly-look at the knuckles, and that situation happened 2 months after surgery). The weight is what is really troubling me. Though I've been on steroids to feed my Adrenal Glands, which took a severe hit from the hysterectomy and were being depleted of their last bit of estrogen, I went into Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome, could barely lift my head off a pillow. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) was started, but doctors have yet to figure out the correct recipe of the Bioidentical creams to work for my system. For example, where my normal levels of Progesterone should be (target range of 100-300)mine are 2,000! You'd think my doc would do something, but no. I've stopped all Gluten products to keep down inflamation and try to control the blood sugars better, and I'm eating even MORE healthier than I was before, but the weight is still a problem, the blood sugars are all over the boards... what is happening to me?! I, too, am feeling as though I have turned into a VERY aged woman over night. My Endocrinologist (Diabetic doc) and OB/GYN (the one who did my hysterectomy) want me to lose the weight and be healthy in mind and body, but I feel I'm going crazy. I've been taking vit D3 for the foggy memory and other vits, but I'm needing to find a good Osteoperosis 'over-the-counter' med to assist with my situation. Any suggestions for that? As I feel the cards are already stacked against me, with the Type 1 Diabetes, and now having no hormones in my system (lack of ovaries), I don't want to be looked at as a "Taboo" Case. I need help, have already talked to my physicians, but they love the mighty dollar; therefore have been shelling out numerous amounts for information. How sad. I want to live...is there anyone out there who is a Type 1 Diabetic, having had a hysterectomy (causing surgical Menopause) or natural on-set of Menopause who is willing to respond to this message? One final question: is it still possible to lose weight without Hormone Replacement Therapy to assist with the metabolism? Or is it a lost cause? I need to know the truth from gals who are experiencing it.
Feeling like my body is on auto-pilot,

I am a 51-year young active petite gal who eats healthy, does not smoke, - no self destructive habits (drugs/alchohol) and has no other ailments. I have always been active, dancing, walking, biking, hiking & Yoga when I lived out west. Never had any sports injury.

I completed my first bone density test two weeks ago, and was diagnosed of osteoporosis in the spine and osteopenia in the hips. My GYN just prescribed Fosamax which I just started taking, however, due to loss of balance last week at work, I fell in the parking lot. I was rushed to the ER via ambulance (since I could not get up due to the excrutiating pain in my foot/ankle) and followed up with an Orthopedic Surgeon who said I have a fractured foot/ankle. A Cat scan Monday = 5/3 will determine if I need surgery.

Needless to say, what a "wake up call" to all who have ever been immobolized with any type of bone fracture!

What concerns me is doing all the right things, and a freaky accident causing such a disability. I hope I can gain stability and strength in my left ankle again without surgery and no permanent damage. The next few weeks will determine.

This is a great site for all to share their concerns, success stories and experiences.

I thank you for listening and sharing.

Have your vitamin D levels checked ... a family member has Fibromyalgia and when her levels are up, the pain is 75-90% improved. I don't have fibro but my vitamin D levels are also low and when I get them up, my pain is also diminished. Most Americans are low on D. My daily maintance dose is 4ooo-6000 IU a day. And even at that dosage, it's difficult to get my levels up .. family member is the same way. We have different pcps but both are being treated the same ... 50,000 IU by RX when levels drop too far is not unusual.
