Fluoride: The Invisible Threat To Your Bones - Save Our Bones

Water fluoridation is seen by mainstream scientists as one of the top achievements in public health. Most dentists and doctors praise the supplementation of municipal water.

However, multiple studies show that fluoride has a direct negative impact on cellular and enzymatic activity, causing a slew of undesirable health effects. From thyroid dysfunction to neurological disorders and brittle bones, study after study has shown that practically no body function is immune to fluoride’s onslaught.

What’s more, because fluoride is a protoplasmic poison – meaning that it changes the permeability of the cell membrane…

Fluoridated Compounds are Used as Insecticides

Water fluoridation began in the 1950‘s. According to the Handbook of Experimental Pharmacology, at the turn of the 20th century sodium fluoride was already widely used to control pests such as cockroaches and poultry lice. New expanded uses were added after the Second World War, at which time fluoridated compounds were actively researched and later continued to be used as insecticides.1

Sodium fluoride is listed in the CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service) Registry with the number 7681-49-4, where it is described as:

“… a colorless crystalline solid or white powder, or the solid dissolved in a liquid. Sodium fluoride is soluble in water. Sodium fluoride is noncombustible. Sodium fluoride is corrosive to aluminum. Sodium fluoride is used as an insecticide. Sodium fluoride is also used to fluoridate water supplies, as a wood preservative, in cleaning compounds, manufacture of glass, and for many other uses.” 2

Confirmed: Fluoride Increases Hip Fracture Risk

You see, multiple studies have shown that a large percentage of the ingested fluoride accumulates in the bones, which leads to bone damage and in some cases, skeletal fluorosis.3

This certainly explains the increase in hip fractures linked to water fluoridation, as shown by a review of 18 studies.3 And while the CDC continues to tout water fluoridation as a success in tooth decay reduction, upon its review of the studies in 1993, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) commented that:

“The weight of evidence from these experiments suggests that fluoride added to water can increase the risk of hip fracture in both elderly women and men. However, questions remain due to issues such as the lack of information on trends in hip fracture and total individual fluoride consumption.” 3

In view of the detrimental effects on your overall health and on your bone health, does it make any sense to drink fluoridated water? The answer is obvious. In fact…

You Should Avoid Fluoride Like the Plague!

If you have the Osteoporosis Reversal Program, you know this already. And you’ve also read detailed information on this topic in the Osteoporosis Hydration Protocol. But while it’s important to drink non-fluoridated water, I’m also aware from my own experience that it is an inconvenience. I know what it’s like to carry water jugs from the grocery store and to not be in control of your water. That's why…

I Took Control of My Water With the Waterwise 8800 Distiller

Since I vapor distill my tap water with the Waterwise distiler, I hardly ever have to buy water, saving me over $450 in water a year.

But most importantly, I know that my water is in my control – and not in the hands of faceless government employees – who routinely over-fluoridate the water supply. And of course, while any amount of fluoride is too much, most municipalities don't even conform to the CDC's new lowered recommendations. 4

The Waterwise 8800 Is The Answer To Tap Water… And Water in General

The Waterwise 8800 makes it easier for you to reach your alkalizing goals, thus helping you retain more calcium in your bones, making them stronger and healthier. Distilled water also detoxifies your body because it drags the acidic toxins out. You see, the subtle negative charge in distilled water attracts the positively charged acidic waste products and helps flush them out of the body.

The Waterwise 8800 is the most convenient way to have an endless source of distilled water and as I’ve mentioned before, will save you money in the long run. And..

Do you have a connection with Waterwise for the model 3200. What price can I get it for if I go through Save our Bones? Thanks, Deborah.

  2. reverse osmosis indonesia

I have read a few just right stuff here. Certainly worth bookmarking for revisiting. I wonder how much effort you place to make one of these magnificent informative web site.

  3. JoAnn Davis

Does anyone know if drinking distilled water from a grocery store (the ones you buy in a gallon jug), is safe to drink? I’m thinking of doing this rather than buying a water distiller at this time??

  4. Carol

I use two de-humidifiers set in a clean environment. I use it to water my plants. But is it safe to drink?

Vivian. Thank you so much for this information. I would have no idea about much of this without your posts. Nor would I know about these possible tools, classes, and books. I much appreciate that you go out of your way to do all this research to give us the options and choices. Much appreciated!. Lynn

  7. garen tolkin

I have grown tired of your alarmist sales ploys. You might have more credibility if your information weren’t always accompanied by a convenient-to- buy ( and expensive) machine or supplement. I am going to withdraw from your posts. I shut down when faced with fear-driven sales.

    • Vivian Goldschmidt, MA

Garen, I understand that you’re shocked about this information. It’s normal! Of course it’s difficult to believe that such a toxic chemical is added to drinking water AND considered a public health achievement.

I am not exaggerating one bit, though. I’m just giving you the truth… and we’re all better off knowing it so we can protect our bones and our health from fluoride and other toxins.

  8. Leslie (Ms. L.)

    Hi! Vivian,

I Have A Question! Is There A Non-Fluoride Toothpaste That Helps Protects Tooth Enamel Also? Right Now I Use PRONAMEL By: SENSODYNE!
And I Thank You VERY MUCH, IN ADVANCE, FOR YOUR HELP!

    LOVE, LESLIE (MS. L.)

    • Vivian Goldschmidt, MA

Nature’s Gate fluoride-free toothpaste protects tooth enamel 🙂

  9. Andrea

Why are minerals in water harmful yet those in supplement good?????

    • Rev: William R/. Hinton

I was told that minerals was good for you that’s all I drink? please explain the reasons? and how too start drinking other waters/ and what other brands should”
      I try?
      Sincerely… Thanks’

    • Vivian Goldschmidt, MA

Minerals in water are derived from rocks, limestone, and other deposits. Our cells don’t recognize inorganic minerals, so they are unusable substances, not much different from toxins.

      • Liz Marsh

If the distilled water draws the toxins from the bone, might it not also be drawing calcium from the bones?

  10. Marion

I have read that you should have no more than .4 grams of protein for every pound that you should weigh. Is this true?

  11. Adriane

It is my understanding that distilled water, being devoid of all minerals, can actually contribute to bone loss over time, and has an acidic pH. Several alternative/integrative health professionals have recommended drinking pure spring water with all it’s minerals. If drinking distilled or R/O water they recommend adding minerals back to the water. Your thoughts?

    • Vivian Goldschmidt, MA

Adriane, water doesn’t have to supply us with minerals; we should get organic minerals from foods and supplements.

  12. Ivy

I have been using Culligan water filter system for years. According to their sales person, it filters out 99.9% impurity from the tap water. Am I safe? Or I should change to distilled water. Please advise. Thanks for your attention.

  13. Jutta

My understanding is that only reverse osmosis will remove fluoride . Will a distiller remove fluoride ?

    • Vivian Goldschmidt, MA

Jutta, the end result of vapor distillation is pure H2O. No fluoride, no toxic impurities, just great-tasting, clean and healthy water:)

  14. Diane Martinson

For those of us that can’t afford a distiller what about the Zero Pitcher you can get at Target? I’ve been using one for a couple years, it says it takes fluoride out and I even called the company to confirm, it has a larger filter that I only have to change about 3 times a year. I even use it for my cats!

    • Vivian Goldschmidt, MA

Their filters are designed to remove inorganic compounds, but are not specific for fluoride.

  15. Mary Annese

    Hi Vivian,

Having a problem with losing my enamel on my teeth, what would you suggest instead of floride toothpaste?

    Be Blessed
With thankfulness for all you do for soooooo many,
    Mary Annese

    • Vivian Goldschmidt, MA

Mary, Nature’s Gate Creme de Mint fluoride-free toothpaste contains free calcium derived from carrot extract and calcium ascorbate, which strengthens teeth enamel. There’s no need to use fluoride to strengthen your teeth.

      • Rev: William R/. Hinton

Sincerely, thanks I”ve been losing my tooth enamel and the tooth pastle by nature gates!!! will strengthens my Enamels again:
        Thanks”

      • LynnCS

That is really good news. I have been using prescription strenth flouride toothpaste for the exposed enamel due to recession. I must do whatever it takes to keep my teeth. I will look up the Nature’s Gate toothpaste. Our city does not add Flouride to the city water. I advise everyone to check with their city to find out whether they do.

  16. Yolanda

    Hi Vivian”
What about the fluoride that’s present in toothpaste? Is it in safe amounts or can it also be determental to your health?

    • Vivian Goldschmidt, MA

Absolutely! Fluoride gets absorbed through the oral mucosa, and enters the bloodstream. Like Marianne, I also like Nature’s Gate antioxidant toothpaste, but there’s a large variety of fluoride-free toothpastes mostly available online or at health food stores.

    • Marianne

I switched to a non-fluoride toothpaste made by Nature’s Gate. It tastes delicious and is so much better for the body! I buy it at my health food store.

  17. Joy

Does the homeopathic tissue salt Calc. Fluor also have a negative effect on bone?

  18. Elaine

I use a water filter at home and mostly drink water when eating out but wonder what water they use.
Wondering what whooping cough booster are about. I read they changed the vaccine fomula in 1997 and they believe not as effctive but still saying about all that the vaccine recived as a child eventually wears off. Still avoiding the flu shot so was wondering about this booster shot? Just got over a bad case of something and cancelling the booster as I fell my system cannot handle at this time and still wondering about it.
    Thanks for all the information.

  19. Jaki

The waterwise looks good, years ago I had a distiller – however I now have a Kangen water filter. Can you tell me the benefits of each and which you would choose or even a combination of the two. Water health is key importance to me as I feel it is what is feeding every cell in my body :))

    • Vivian Goldschmidt, MA

Kangen ionizes the water and filters the fluoride and other elements found in tap water. Filters need to be replaced often, adding to the initial high cost of the machine, which is well above $1,000. You can read more about this in Water Week Part 2, where I discuss in detail all kinds of drinking water.

A distiller removes the water from the toxic impurities. This is unique to vapor distillation and ensures that your water is 100% pure and delicious.
