
My path to discover the truth about osteoporosis has been fascinating and arduous at the same time. As you probably know by now, the hundreds of hours I have dedicated to research osteoporosis culminated with the Osteoporosis Reversal Program.

Marine biologists are not held captive by Big Pharma

She explains that as the oceans absorb increasingly large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) from atmospheric pollution, the water keeps turning more acidic. And the lower water pH endangers all marine creatures, especially mollusks and crustaceans such as crabs, clams, and oysters that produce calcium carbonate shells.
The author goes on to say that this is not just a theory; it’s a reality confirmed by experiments with compressed CO2 poured directly into laboratory test tanks. To the scientists’ amazement, the acidifying effect of CO2 caused the spines of sea urchins and the shells of mollusks to literally dissolve.
McAuliffe makes the connection with osteoporosis and writes that:
“Like human bones whittled by osteoporosis, their exoskeletons will grow thin and brittle or—mirroring what happened to the test animals at CO2 injection sites—dissolve.”
Simply put, CO2 acidifies the oceans causing….
Osteoporosis under the Sea
Analysis of CO2 preserved in ice cores shows that since the 19th century, the pH of the ocean has dropped by 0.1 measurement unit, representing a 30 percent increase in acidity.
While significant, this number is dwarfed by the acidifying effects of the typical North American or Western diet.
These diets are rich in acidifying animal proteins, grains and chemical additives, while strikingly low in alkalizing vegetables and fruits. This leads to chronic metabolic acidosis, so no wonder we are facing an osteoporosis epidemic. But fortunately…

Please don’t confuse acid tasting foods with foods that have an acidic ash residue. Citrus fruits are alkalizing, and so is pineapple.

Sodium bicarbonate is alkalizing but if you take it by mouth it neutralizes stomach acid and prevents proper digestion. That in turn causes malabsorption of important nutrients.

Not recommended, except in very small quantities. If you neutralize stomach acid, foods will be improperly digested and end up as a toxic acidic mass…

Hi, Vivian, Your articles are so helpful and informative. After being diagnosed with osteoporosis, I was told to take Fosamax, which I did for 3 years. I developed joint pain, heart paplpitations, and sleweplessness. I told my DR. I wanted to go off of Fosamax, and she replied, “Do you want a broken hip?” I followed your suggestions of ridding my body of acid, exercised, and went to my endocrinologist this past week. He had tried to put me on a diuretic to stop my body from leeching calcium into my urine. I DID NOT TAKE THAT MED EITHER! My latest bone density test improved greatly. I am no longer in the osteoporosis category, but I am osteopenic. My endocrinologist was amazed! THANK YOU AGAIN, VIVIAN!!

Has anyone heard of the Enagic machine that makes Kangen water? It was made in Japan where they use it in hospitals. Much to be said about it, but briefly, removes acid and infuses oxygen.
It is a water ionizer water filter. Enagic is very expensive due to the network marketing scheme. I discovered a similar product that cost less than 50% of its price since it is not a network marketing. I already ordered. I need it very much due to my very acidic stomach . It explains this ph levels as well etc. I’ll share the result once I get it.

I live in the UK and buy PH testing strips from a website called ‘energise for life’. I find them really usefull for testing what foods give a good ph level afterwards.

Is there any way you can promote a study/research whether or not Actonel or Fosomax can actually be responsible for causing kidney stones? After being on them for 2-3 years, I rather suddenly developed numerous small stones in each kidney. At one point a couple got stuck in the ureter and that was scary, looking at a possibility of losing kidney function or having surgery. Can you survey people you are connected with to see if anyone else has had this problem? My theory is that the Actonel interferes with the calcium absorption and it ends up in the kidneys instead of the bones. All the best to you for all the research you do in this subject!

Three years ago I was diagnosed with osteoporosis. my dr. recommended Forteo. I took the risk and for 2 yrs. took daily injections. when through with the treatment I was given a report of bone density of someone age 30, I was 49 at the time. since then I discovered save my bones and I refuse to take boniva or any of the other treatments with the poisons in them. I was fortunate. I started seeing a nutritionist five months ago and through change of diet and exercise and natural supplements my joint pain is completely gone and I am able to use my hands again. Malic acid is wonderful for fibromyalgia pain and arthritis. I hope this can help someone. just don’t take anything that is not natural.
My bone density is at a -4.2 and it was highly recommended that I get on Forteo….however I have been working on Vivian’s program to build bone naturally. Would you recommend I take the shots and do what I am doing or just stay on my natural healing path?

I have been using your Save our bones book and now the extended version and I am happy to say that my Osteopoenia has stabilised and improved. I was on Fosamax , and after three years became very ill, my food came up and took ages to go down to my stomach causing hiccups and pain. Thankfully that is now a distant memory.I exercise and incorporate the use of the powerplate it is fantastic and I think that the full benefits have not yet been realised. the combination of your methods of the right foods and exercise are an unbeatable combination. I am going well with my alkaline balance and test mostly 6.8 each morning it is now 8 months since I started this new way of eating. However I have a question for you please reply. Give it a little more time, Joy. I wonder if you drank (and still drink) fluoridated tap water. Excess fluoride accumulates in the joints and mimics arthritis symptoms. Unfortunately,no amount of alkalizing can neutralize fluoride’s unrelenting joint devastation.
Oh my! I use flouridated toothpaste, drank mostly flouridated tap water for the past 30 years, and my dentist still gives me a flouride treatment once a year. Maybe that’s why the joints in my thumbs have bothered me for years! I will tell my dentist “no more” flouride treatments, switch toothpaste and drink pure water. Can you “flush” the flouride out of your system and how long does that take?

I agree that your PH factor (acid/alkaline) is a vital roll in maintaining strong bones. Not only osteoporosis but cancer as well. In an acid state, we loose calcium needed for healthy bones and in an acid state, cancer cells grow. So, our PH factor needs to be netural and slightly alkaline to stop the loss of calcium and to stop cancer cells from spreading. I take an 1/8th tsp. of baking soda each day to keep my PH where it belongs. Of course I also eat foods that are high alkaline BUT my body still needs that boost from the baking soda. 1/2 tsp. is too much but for me, 1/8th is perfect. I use Bob’s Red Mill premium baking soda as it is aluminum free.
