An 800 pound gorilla recommends investments; talking babies discuss online stock trading; a gecko works for a car insurance company; a duck wants you to buy disability coverage… What will they think of next?
How about a “retired” flying nun, Sally Field, touting the benefits of Boniva (ibandronate), the first once-a-month bisphosphonate? Take a look at one of the ads for Boniva below:
Partial Transcript
“I always thought that calcium, vitamin D, and exercise would be enough to keep my bones healthy. Boniva works with your body to help stop and reverse bone loss… I was able to stop and reverse my bone loss, and studies show that after one year on Boniva, nine out of 10 women did too. I’ve got this one body and this one life, so I wanted to stop my bone loss. Ask your doctor if Boniva is right for you.”
So I decided to create my own ad for Boniva… but with a big twist
You see, my Boniva ad actually tells the truth. So now, without further ado, here is my new and accurate Boniva advertisement starring Sally Field:
Sally Field is sitting on her patio couch wearing white jogging pants and a blue t-shirt, her legs curled up on the seat. On top of a small coffee table in front of her, there is a thick and dried-up tree branch and a thin twig. As Enya’s inspiring “Only If” plays softly in the background, she says:
“I always thought that osteoporosis was a disease, and when I was diagnosed with it, my doctor told me that ONLY once-a-month Boniva could reverse my bone loss. At first I believed my doctor, but soon after – fortunately before filling my prescription – I discovered that he was wrong. I read on the internet that osteoporosis is not a disease and that there is a natural and drug-free way to reverse it. I was surprised to learn that Boniva can actually do more harm than good…”
Now there is silence, except for the music crescendo, as Enya sings “If you really want to, you can hear me say; only if you want to will you find a way.” Sally sits up straight and crosses her legs. The music volume is lowered and Sally goes on:
“Taking Boniva makes your bones more prone to fracture, and here’s why this happens. Exactly like its main competitors, Fosamax, Actonel, and Reclast, Boniva works against natural bone metabolism.
You see, Boniva binds to the bone matrix and stops normal bone resorption by inhibiting bone cells known as osteoclasts. Bone resorption is a necessary process to have strong and healthy bones because osteoclasts remove old bone to make space for new healthy, and more resilient bone tissue to be deposited in its place.
As a result of taking Boniva, new bone formation is greatly depressed, and your bones become old and dried-up with long-term accumulation.”
Sally picks up the thick branch and holds it in front of her with outstretched arms
“If you really want to you can seize the day”, Enya sings… Sally smiles and cracks the branch in half and holds the broken pieces in her hands:
“Take a look at this old and dried-up branch and notice how easily I split it in half. That’s exactly what happens to your bones: because Boniva stops your bones from renewing themselves naturally, they look thicker but become brittle.
This detrimental process takes a couple of years, and that’s why scientific studies showing density improvement when taking Boniva focus mainly on short-term results. Even though bone volume does not increase, bone is more densely packed and looks denser. But this stops after a while.
Like you, I want to reverse osteoporosis, but I don’t want to get fooled by a synthetic drug that offers short-sighted help. And what’s more, unlike my doctor, I believe that bone quality is more important than quantity. After all, my goal is to prevent fractures…”
Sally places the broken branch on the table and takes the thin twig in her hands. She tries to crack it, but it is flexible and instead of breaking, it gracefully bends. She continues:
“Now watch how this thinner but young and healthy twig resists breakage. Of course, you want your bones to be like it. So next time your doctor recommends Boniva, feel free to ignore him like I did, and opt for a natural and drug-free way to strengthen your bones.”
The music stops.
Sally gets up and walks away
The screen becomes black and a large Poison warning sign appears with a disclosure that reads:
“Even though this drug has been approved by the appropriate government agency to treat, cure, and prevent osteoporosis, you are basically on your own. Neither the agency nor healthcare practitioners, the latter with very few exceptions, care if you will suffer side effects when taking Boniva. After all, it’s a numbers game.
Moreover, the agencies involved can ignore new research showing detrimental effects of this drug, and even if those are confirmed, may simply issue a warning. Also, you must remember that the makers of Boniva have a lot more money than you, by the billions, and can therefore successfully fight any lawsuit by hiring the best lawyers.”
This remains visible on the screen while a woman’s voice is heard saying:
“If you are looking for a short-term osteoporosis ‘quick-fix’ and still want to take a chance with Boniva, please note that you are risking the following side effects, many of which may be irreversible: nausea, abdominal pain, flatulence, diarrhea, severe constipation, inflammation and ulceration of the esophagus, chest pain, heartburn, difficulty swallowing, skin rash, eye problems including vision loss and blurred vision, generalized pain of the muscles, joints, and/or bones, decreased mobility of joints, blood clotting disorders, anemia, dental problems, numbness, tight muscles in the face, seizures, irritability and unusual thoughts and behaviors, altered taste, atrial fibrillation, jaw pain, osteonecrosis of the jaw.
Additionally, as is the case with all bisphosphonate drugs, Boniva interferes with Coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) production, an essential antioxidant that performs many important functions in the body. To find out more about how Boniva can ruin your life, please call the toll-free information line at 1-800-4NO-LIES.”
The screen fades to black.
Now that would be truthful advertising. As always, let me know what you think by leaving a comment below.

I am interested in the information you provide, but I would like to see you article/essay cite the sources for your information, specifically, the statements about how Boniva (and others) work and about the side effects of said drugs. I can try to find these on my own, but your statements are, as is, apparently opinion. If your allegations are correct, I hope you will pursue your informative efforts with the FDA and with your congressional representatives. The drugs may still be advised in some cases, but doctors and patients need ALL the information to make the best choices.
Thank you.
Dear Vivian, I have been taking Boniva for almost 2 years. I just developed a severe skin rash on my ankles and legs. I wonder if this is from Boniva. I see my doctor on Tuesday. I’ll be interested in what he says is the cause of this rash. Ellen
I was taking boniva for a couple of years when I decided that it was probably not the best way to maintain my already strong, healthy bones. I’m glad to have rejected boniva!
I am fallowing the vitamin, alkaline diet and use pH strips. How accurate are they? I want to make sure that my body stays alkaline. Is there a place to view your reply because I never see a responce from any of the comments. Greatly appreciated
Would like me info.
Please email me the actual research articles your information is based upon. Thanks
Is there any mileage in taking Fosamax for one or two years to “thicken” the bones, THEN stopping and allowing the osteoclasts to get going again, Vivienne?
I’ve often wondered that too? Do you know Vivian?
Thanks,
Rhonda
Dear Vivian, Recently ididnot participate much even though I am reading the e-mails. The diet you presented with all toxic products we ingest not paying good look into– amazed me. still I am working on those! This letter is fantastic. Did she really said that/wish she would have advertised. I was also amazed by the commercials you gave examples. I think we do not look at life as precious meaningful & worthwhile than being silly, power craving etc etc—.
Love,
I almost died from a shot of Boniva. My bones are better now thanks to good nutrition.Thank you Vivian Janet
I have been using supplements (especially vit D3 which I had tested and was extremely low – I now take 5,000 IU a day) and eating a primarily fresh fruit and veggie diet, supplemented with protein (salmon, fish/chicken) and excercising constantly. I was sick for about a year and barely moved off my couch, but, despite that in the last two years my bones have not gotten any worse and my hips are improving (dexa scores) because of the past 8 months of healthy living changes I made (and am doing extremely well with the disease in my lungs as well that had me down before). I figure during my sick period that I probably lost bone, so, the 8 months has gotten that bone back and is progressing forward in producing more bone density. There is case after case of people showing proof that they are stopping their osteoporosis in its tracks without biophosphate drugs by getting tested for vit D and getting proper amounts of other vitally needed vit/minerals, eating an alkaline diet (making sure they’re not gluten sensitive…celiac disease) and using their muscles to ‘tug’ on the bones to stimulate growth, etc. There is much information on how to fight osteoporosis naturally. These drugs are poison and it’s time they were exposed to save people from the drastic results they have on people’s health. Thanks Vivian for boldly getting attention to this horror that our medical/pharmacuetical industry is still supporting, despite the proof that these drugs are dangerous rather than health building.
Changing our lifestyle is the only way to heal ourselves… Not with chemical based pills and potions… The 80/20 diet, reducing the acid-forming stress in our lives, and drinking the right water will help to keep us alkaline…
I stopped taking Fozamax because side effects, Lately I have been doing weight exercises etc. and my bone scan came out better, Dr. said don’t know what your doing but keep doing it.
Amen
I came across an article I would like you to read. It’s about a study that states green tea contains chemicals that can stimulate the bone formation process. It is from Dr. Barbara Hoffman’s website. Go to Progesterone Research Network for this article. She can be reached 1-877-880-0770. I love green tea and have stopped drinking it since I read your book. Please let us know what you think! Thanks!
I can’t believe Sally Field would be involved with advertising this product — she certainly doesn’t need the money. Therefore, I can only assume she must really believes Boniva works. The sad thing is she is such a respected actress that many uninformed women will see her ad as a positive inducement.
People will do or say anything for the right amount of money!!!!!!
Loved the “truth” advise about Boniva! Here’s hoping every woman reads it!!
Perfect truth for this false advertisement!
Thank you again for reminding us of the dangers. To think I was prescribed first Fosamax then Boniva. Fortunately, with thanks to your constant reminders I took neither.
This is sooo scary though!!!
Many, many thanks Vivian
Pat
I stopped taking Fosamax as I ached all over, even my flesh was sore. I’ve just heard about a once a year injection, is it any good?
I wish you COULD put an ad like that on every channel on the TV, place it in all the nespapers, magazines, etc. – – – – – I have lady friends who are taking Fosamex – – (I don’t know any who are taking Boniva) I can’t even start talking to them about the bad side effects, they are so excited that they are doing the right thing for their bones.
Ann
I think my doctor has been doing some research as he is happy I am no longer taking Actonel. I know they have to be careful what they say
Hi Vivian,
Thanks for keeping me up to date on the drugs that are harmful to bones.
Gwen
I started a course of Boniva about 6 to 7 months ago.
I took the pill on the 1st of the month. On the 7th 8th and 10th of that month in the early hours of the morning I was woken up with terrible chest pain going into my right shoulder and down my arms (both of them) and severe vomiting lasting about 30 minutes to an hour, I was very frightened and stopped taking the pill for a month.
I told my Doctor and she persuaded me to try again and even though I terrified I did try again thinking maybe it could have been something else and not the boniva, the same thing happened exactly the same, after 7 days I had 3 days early morning the same pains and vomiting, then I knew that it had to be the Boniva and have not taken it since. I haven’t told my Doctor, I just went out and bought vitamins for bone health, that will have to do.
Yours sincerely Elaine jeffs
Tell your Doctor, Please!!!
It’s the right thing to do for you and others who may have the same side effects.
Reading this article was enjoyable. I am so grateful that I did not start taking Boniva. I have tried to make my diet more alkaline and am taking more supplements plus exercising more. I lost 25 pounds which was nice. My husband also likes to eat healthy foods so this helps. I do not know if my bone density has increased but I have decided not to worry about it.
Congratulations on the changes you’ve made! Changing our lifestyle is the only way to heal ourselves… Not with chemical based pills and potions… The 80/20 diet, reducing the acid-forming stress in our lives, and drinking the right water will help to keep us alkaline… You also might enjoy watching the movie Eating (www.ravediet.com) for information about animal products and health.
Doctors also lie when they tell their patients that taking bisphosphonates for 40 years will keep women with osteoporosis out of wheel chairs in their 90s. The truth is that doctors and big pharma does not fully understand osteoporosis which is a very complicated, possibly systemic condition related to other conditions in the body. Medicine is just not sophisticated enough to deal with the complex array of conditions in the body that cause osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.
“Medicine is just not sophisticated enough to deal with the complex array of conditions in the body that cause osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.”
May I qualify “medicine” with “Western.”
Traditional Chinese Medicine treats the whole body and doesn’t have to isolate one system.
Right, we don’t know if Sally Fields is taking Boniva or if she really has osteoporosis. You can bet Boniva is paying her big bucks to say anything.
Vivian,
If all women with osteoporosis could read your brilliant articles about the dangers of bisphosphonates, they would never take these awful drugs that are essentially poison peddled in attractive ads. What if all women decided to stop taking bisphosphonates? Would the makers of these killer drugs force women to take them? Let’s hope not. However, with the rapid, draconian changes in health care, one never knows.

My doctor, who got me through breast cancer, is the one who has recommended I take fossamax, which I have taken since August ’09. Every week when I took it, I got a TERRIBLE headache. Now, while seeing my G P, I told him about the headaches and he took it upon himself to switch me to Actonel (once a month). I haven’t started it yet and I’m sort of dreading the thought of maybe getting a worse headache that will last longer since the pill is a longer lasting one. It’s hard to get my cancer dr. to take this seriously-he feels that since I’m on an anti-cancer pill (Femara), I definitely NEED to be on something for the osteoporosis. What do you think I should do??????
All of those chemicals from the Health issue you had and may still have, are posions to your body!
can you imagine what else is taking place, upon which your body wants to get rid of and start repairing and being with the right nourishment, to clear out the toxcity which has been so damaging, so it won’t come back! What are you doing about this? Sally Field is a joke! and did not go any further then the money she got from promoting that Drug, which has a black box warning.

For goodness sake.. take Strontium Citrate- a low cost, natural to the body, OTC element that supports the dual action and natural bone remodeling (osteoclast/osteoblast) for bone health.
In Europe it has been approved as Strontium Ranelate (manufacturer: Elservier) and has had significant success (in trials) in reversing and stabilizing bone loss in women. FDA has not approved its use in the USA. Sr. Ran. is offered as a suspension with the addition of Aspartame. Many of us feel, due to Aspartame’s adverse side effects, that this is the downside of the medicine.
Strontium Citrate or Sr. in combination with other salts has a bright future..and is slowly being accepted by some mainstream MDs. Pharma will challenge it or press the FDA not to recognize it, of course since it presents competition to their billion dollar Bisphosphonate (Fosamax, Reclast, Actonel, Boniva etc.) industry.
Please do some Sr. research on your own.
Hopefully, you will join the thousands of us that take Sr. Citrate and enjoy the stabilized and/or increased positive bone density results on our Dexa scans.
Good luck.
In my opinion, the drug and strontium citrate are quite different.
If someone is going thru chemotherapy, one may have to deal with bone loss differently.
You are not a qualified professional, are you? Even if you are, you don’t know the poster well enough to give ASSERTIVE advice like this. We can give opinions only.
For the record, I don’t agree with many MD’s and I don’t support bisphosphonates.
I meant to say INTEGRATIVE medicine.
It never fails to amaze me how drug companies use celebrities to promote their products. The inference is that you can become like these social idols in some way. The side effects of their drugs are only mentioned in subdued tones.
As a victim of the side effects of Actonel I am now very cautious of any medication and recommend checking on the content and side effects of any prescribed treatment. The internet is a valuable resource to verify both the good and bad use of synthetic ‘chemical’ medication. I only took Actonel for three months and now a year later I have finally got my life back. I hate to think what I would be like if I had persisted with the drug.
Thanks Vivian ! I am folowing your program, hoping you are right!
The summer of 1996 I had a slight fall off a tree branch that was approximately 10-12 feet off the ground. Nothing happened….nothing broken or bruised and fortunately I suffered no ill effects. The following February I happened to have a Dexascan.
I worked as a pharmaceutical rep and one of the doctors I called on was a rheumatologist as part of a large clinic. They had just acquired a bone density machine and were practicing on people to further insure it was working properly. I eagerly agreed to be scanned and to my complete shock, I had a low T-score and told I was osteopenic bordering on full blown Osteoporosis. I was placed on Fossamax immediately.
It was daily then and was a real pain to take but, I was compliant for about 9 months. After that, I became very sporadic about taking it. My follow up Dexascan took place about 14 months later. I had improved only slightly. Sometime after that I started jogging. I ran every day….slow, but I ran. I fell in love with running. I sucked at it but I didn’t care, I loved doing it. My next scan took place following 18 months of running. It showed a dramatic improvemnt…much more than the medication. I am now in the normal range but not far from osteopenia range. I am taking Premarin, a multi vitamin, a bone concoction, Flax seed and fish oils combined with exercise/walking.
There are MANY lawsuits going on presently against Merck, the Fosamax people. I don’t think they are too worried because they have made a BUNDLE on Fosamax, more than enough to pay off a few lawsuits. Pharmaceutical companies live with lawsuits. It’s part of the game.
We live in a capitolistic society. Our society has deemed that health care be a business. By definition then, health care is a FOR PROFIT enterprise. The Drug companies manufacture chemicals because they make MONEY from doing so. Therefore, it’s like buying a car or anything else….BUYER BEWARE. Don’t take their word for anything. Do your own research and decide for yourself what is best for you health.
I am not on Boniva, and I stopped taking Fosamax over two years ago, but my doctor said I should take Evista to help my Osteopenia. It was hard for me to explain why I should not take it. Would you please let me know what to tell him.
Thank you, Nancy D.
Hey Nancy
You are in control-you pay your Doctor~who is not God! You can surly tell him, that there are other ways and options, other then chemical drugs, that have Black box warnings and toxciticies, that occur with horrendous side effects, which in the long run, I am not interested in comming down with. Hang in there, and research other sources, there are many!

I used to really like Sally Field, but, she seems too smart to not have researched this. I guess she just takes the money and not the Boniva. It is such an awful drug. I took Fosamax for one month, while doing my research, then never got a refill. Now I take more calcium, D, K, CoQ10, and a protein MBP? not too sure about that one, took Fluid Joint before which is protein based. I have horrible eating habits though. I wish someone would come out with the perfect bar or drink for our bones. I’d rather munch on a bar at work with water than eat a good lunch or dinner. Does anyone have any suggestions? The alkaline/acid diet with real food is just impossible for me. Help!
Sorry, I posted twice. I didn’t think I submitted the 1st one.
Hi Jean
It’s not impossible! You can make a Acid/Akaline Super Antioxidant scrumptious Shake, and take it with you for lunch, and you won’t even be hungry after ward! With all the Greens for Akaline and Power Antioxidants, which includes Live Enzymes, Minerals, Probiotics, Herbals etc. The Oxygen treats the body to make red blood cells, Tumors can’t live in Oxygenated cells. Mix this half & half
with water & apple juice. A very exciting delicious
Acid/Akaline Shake, You will feel the difference, with energy and brain power (cows eat grass)

I think highly of MBP and may start taking it soon. The studies are impressive.
How about squeezing 1/4 or half a lemon to a big glass of water? Skip the sugar. This should alkalize the body.
While an alkaline (80%) diet is crucial for optimal health, don’t get stressed out by that.
In my opinion, for osteoporosis one needs to pay special attention to sex hormones. The following is worth noting.
“Excess estrogen implies a progesterone deficiency. This, in turn, leads to a decrease in the rate of new bone formation in a woman’s body by the osteoblasts – the cells responsible for doing this job. Although most doctors are not yet aware of it, this is the prime cause of osteoporosis.”
I believe there are other causes for osteoporosis too. I suggest you do more research. Transdermal progesterone cream is much easier. It has to be NATURAL progesterone and synthetic progesterone may do more harm. Consult a health practitioner who believes in natural progesterone.
One compounding pharmacist suggests that saliva test on E2, progesterone etc. is more accurate than blood test. Again, read more.
This ad adds to the confusion of the whole osteoporosis question – do we take the medication and get better, or do we consider the ad to be untrue/confusing/and dangerous.
Hey Betty
all those adds are confusing, and are unscrupulous, we can do better! All are paid by big Pharma, and their Cohearts, which want to make you believe, that those drugs with all those lovely side effects, will stop all the diseases known to man!
Even in the most prestigious Medical Journals, most of the time, even the doctors that write in them have connections with Big Pharma. So do your own research!

Thank you so very much for keeping us informed of our bone health. You are a treasure!

Because of a bad T score my dr prescribed Fosamax I took it for 1 month, while researching it on the internet the whole time. I did not refill the script. I’m trying to take extra calcium, D,K,CoQ10, and GNC has a milk product? protein? MBP. I used to take Fluid Joint which I think was kind of the same. I had spinal fusion and more a year ago. Anyway, I used to like Sally Field. There’s no way she doesn’t know about what bisphosphonates are doing to bones! She seems smart. Does she just take the money and not the Boniva?
MBP = Milk Basic Protein
Did I miss the segway here?
RE: your previous post
Definitely makes sense to me re: Natural progesterone creme. I am 3rd generation female in my family with osteoporosis and low progesterone.
I took Fosamex for 11 years and then Boniva for 1 year. I now am off the drug and trying to do bone building exercises, walking, weights, Tai Chi, along with supplimentation with vitamins, can this reverse the effects of what the drug did to me or is it a lost cause with too much damage done. Makes me sick. Sandy
Hey Sandy
Never a lost cause-you are doing a lot of good work here!Unfortunately the general public really reads these commercials on TV & takes it to heart to believe~When people see the side effects, they start to question, but not enough! Taking control is really the answer, with the many options that are an open door.

I found out in time, Thank God!!! I stopped Boniva after 3 doses. I was wise enough to tell that my whole body was not working. I had burning in my throat, a very stiff neck, pains in my legs which were really strong before and very very sleepy and exhausted which was uncommon for me. I am usually very energetic. It took me 6 months to start getting back to normal. I started taking Calcium,Magnesium, and a huge prescription dosage of Vitamin D. It turned out I had a low Vitamin D reading which was keeping me from absorbing the Calcium that I was getting. Now I take Vitamin D in my Calcium/Magnesium tablet. All my energy has returned. I have never returned to my Rheumatoid Doctor and I will not even get anymore bone scans. At age 77 I know more about my body than he does. The foreign kook that supposedly concocted all these drugs should be prosecuted and the FDA is going to have to take these poisons off the market. Hope my letter will help some other people out there. Listen to your Body not your Physician. They have to prescribe these drugs. You don’t have to take them. I really doubt, also, that Sally Fields has ever seen a Boniva. Thanks to this website that helped me to see that I was on the wrong course! God Bless all of you that read this!Eva Baker

That is a great read! The truth is there, and it is serious, but so funny to picture it all as I read it.
LOL
Thanks So Much Vivian for all the help you give all woman and for giving us the straight truth. I rememeber when I saw Sally Field and I always liked her as an actor but I was so disappointed to her selling this product and I almost filled a perscription from my doctor but
each time I went to CVS drug store something would stop me, and it was all of your valuable information. I wish we could all ban together and you put out a commercial on TV on why we should NOT take this horrible drugs.
Thanks Again.
Michelle H. South Florida
Dear Friend,
Whenever I see Ms. Fields promotion of Boniva, I want to throw her, and my new TV out the door. Please continue to write, research and reach out to those who continue to take the drugs, thinking there is no other way to address the problem. Thank you for your hard work.
Happy Passover, Vivian.
F. Brandwein
How I would love to see that add on TV,in magazines etc. Thanks for continuing to get the facts out to the general public. Many doctors seem clueless! Thanks for helping me over 6 months ago! I just got my second clear dental check. Dentists seem more aware than doctors! Odd isn’t it?
Have you not read the headlines? “Fosamax and femur fractures : FDA is investigating possible links” Why does one want to take a drug to get spontaneous femur fracture?
The studies are probably conducted by the drug companies. If one is educated, one knows that all kinds of nutrients, vitamins/minerals etc. are needed for bone health and not just calcium and D. Do you know that people are paid to write the outcome of studies any way they want? So often it is a scam. Don’t you know that bone strength is more important than bone density? One can have strong bones even though the bone density is low.
I agree 100%. I read Kevin Trudeau’s books several years ago, and been keeping tabs with numerous publications that have blown the whistle on Big Pharma for a long time. Big Pharma is our anathema, an abomination to our civilization–as well as the physicians those companies have indoctrinated to carry on the pill-popping tradition. It’s deadly.
Well, does Sally have osteoporosis and if so has her bone mass improved? Can that info be acquired?
This is what I thought you were going to tell us, when you mention Sally and Boniva.
Instead you gave me a long comercial to read. Help us Vivian, is Sally just a comercial? Is it a testimony of her own life’s experience with boniva? This inquiring mind wants to know.
Thank you.
Menopause?
That’s a good one! I’m a middle-aged male that was diagnosed with osteoporosis. My latest scan shows that I reversed it without the use of dangerous Rx drugs. All I did was follow Vivian’s recommendations.
Vivian, I’m in full agreement with you on the matter involving Boniva. As a matter of fact I’m totally afraid of any bisphosonates on the market. Thanks again for your professional insight regarding this matter.
Please continue to update us with all the information that is so vitally important to our bones.
Regards,
Bea Justice-Salyers
Love your version of the Boniva ad. I have always liked Sally Field but sure wish she would wise up but I can’t help but wonder if she actually takes Boniva. Those in the public eye should be more careful about what they endorse! I am fortunate to have a doctor (a D.O.) that doesn’t give me static when I refuse any drugs.
Osteopathic Drs. are trained for more years and study a MUCH-MORE NATURAL method of treatment, AFTER a MUCH-MORE INTENSIVE training in how the body works NATURALLY, and responds to NATURALLY-occurring elements available to us as opposed to UN-NATURALLY occurring, laboratory-concocted “MEDICATIONS.” As a nurse for 25 years, I have worked CLOSELY with both D.O.s and M.D.s, and have noted that D.O.s are MUCH-MORE likely than M.D.s to advise healthy diet and exercise in place of ANY new drugs to relieve or reduce a patient’s symptons!!!!
I was on Actonel and Fosomax for about 3 years. During this time I had at least two fractures in my back, plus several slipped discs. I developed a lot of stomach problems which exist to this day. Within a year after I stopped taking these meds, I also developed kidney stones in each kidney (calcium stones). My theory is that the calcium never got into my bones and ended up in the kidneys but there is no way to prove it. I try to warn others about these but they seem to want to believe their doctors! Are there any class action suits going on regarding this?
Funny you should mention this commercial, I just saw it an hour ago and I wondered if she really took it.
Thanks so much for all your information helping us. I ditched the daily Fosamax 2 years ago after taking it for 9 years to no avail, and I never looked back. It’s been great not to have constant flu aches in my arms, dental, and a miscellany of other problems.
WOW if you could get Sally Field to do that,it would be awesome…But even better get a regular woman who is not an actress make a much chepaer ad, but contradict what she says…NOW that would be awesome…I’m available……ha ha I took Boniva for awhile because of that darn ad then went for another bone test to be told it was no better, that’s when I got mad stopped taking it and found you…
Sally Field is just an actress, it does not means that she actually takes Boniva. People who see any kind of adds (not only Boniva’s) are the ones who choose to use that product or not. When people get informed, if they have to choose between any drug like Boniva or follow
the SAVE OUR BONES PROGRAM; nobody will take
those harmful drugs.
Keep spreading the word VIVIAN !
