Today, I’d like to share a story with you that some would rather keep secret. But I feel comfortable letting you in a very embarrassing moment of my life. Because even though the events I’m about to share with you led to a very awkward moment, my hope is that it will carry an important message for you.
What message, you might wonder? It’s about you and your conviction that YOUR health is in YOUR hands. Believe me, it is! In fact, one of the main missions of Save Our Bones is to lead you to this realization and to show you that it’s a lot easier than you’ve been led to believe by the mainstream medical establishment. And this will help you enjoy your summer even more and live a happier more fulfilled and care-free life.
When I started the Save Our Bones Community, I thought of the motto: Rethink Your Health. Rebuild Your Bones (in fact, it's on every page of this website below the logo). I actually should have made it: Rethink Your Health. Rebuild Your Bones. Live Your Life.
Because that's precisely what this journey is about. Once your rebuild your health and your bones, you're able to LIVE your life and focus on what matters to you most. For some of you that may be your career, your friends and family, but it most definitely shouldn't be pain or health problems. So if this story motivates you in any way to take control of your health, then it's well worth my sharing it with you.
The Three Words I Didn’t Want to Hear
A few years ago, I was invited to a casual get-together not far from where I lived. It was a birthday brunch for a friend’s son, who was turning 11. As you can imagine, it was a lively – and noisy – event with children running around the rather small living room area. Everyone was munching on their bagels with cream cheese, salmon, and salad, with barely any space to sit down. After a while, I found an empty chair next to a lady who seemed to be in a pensive mood and looked quite tired.
We started chatting about the usual topics; schools, vacations, and – of course – our children. I told her the age of my three boys, and then casually asked her: “So when are you due?” She looked at me in a strange way and said:
“I’m not pregnant!”
Let me tell you … this was one of the moments in my life where I wished the earth would open up and swallow me whole!
I was as Red as a Tomato
For a brief moment, I truly didn’t know what to do. My mind was racing trying to find a way out of this monumental gaffe. I was sure that she was pregnant! In fact, she looked as though she was nearing the end of her pregnancy… I never even for a moment thought that this was her ‘normal’ physique!
I could feel the heat rising to my head, instantly turning me as red as a tomato. I quickly apologized and tried to find my way out of this terrible entanglement. This left me with a sinking feeling for a long time, abhorring the fact that my erroneous assumption had insulted someone who would probably never forget what I had said. And worst of all, I knew that it wasn’t her fault, because she, like many others, are misled about weight loss.
You see, it’s not a one-time miracle pill or complicated food-measuring or weighing program that will help lose the weight (and keep it off as well). Not at all; it needs to be..
An Easy to Follow and Healthy Nutritional Plan
I know how challenging it can be to shed those unwanted extra pounds and how easy it is to fail trying to follow unrealistic diets that promise the moon. It’s common sense: if a weight loss plan is not easy to follow, it will inevitably fail.
That’s why I’m really excited to share with you this short yet amazing video. It contains some great fat burning information you can put to use right away and it won’t compromise your bone health.

Hi! Vivian,
I Know How You Felt When You Asked If That Woman Was Pregnant! I Did Something Similar With A Friend Of Mine. VERY EMBARRASSING!
HOWEVER, THE ARTICLE WAS GREAT! I REALLY ENJOYED IT!LOVE, MS. L.

Vivian, it isn’t always weight loss that’s the problem. I did have someone ask me when my baby was due and I wasn’t pregnant. But, I have an inoperable perastomal hernis the size of a soccer ball that makes me look pregnant. The woman was totally embarrassed like you were but I smiled and thanked her for THINKING I was pregnant because I was in my late 50’s at the time! If you are going to live life successfully, you have to keep positive and keep a good sense of humor.
-
You’re right on both counts, Sherrine! There can indeed be other issues involved. And it’s vitally important to stay positive and have a good sense of humor. 🙂

I have your book, but haven’t found time to read it. I am 83, wt 145, in good health, exercise, and walk. I am not interested in losing weight, but have a problem with a larger than desired abdomen. It seems that no matter what I eat, it distends. I have had 4 children, eat healthy, but cannot get tighter abs. Any suggestions?
-
Hi there, abdominal distension after eating is very common if someone has wheat sensitivity. Keep a food diary and see if the abdominal distension is worse after eating breads or pastas, pastries or bake goods. Often we think we are eating a varied diet but actually end up with wheat in one form or another at almost every meal.
Then eliminate wheat completely for a 4-5 days and see what happens with the abdominal distension.
Then reintroduce wheat at one meal and observe. You may find the bloating comes back/gets worse and you may find you have increased gas.
Regards
Maureen

Do you follow this eating plan? Does it agree with the Osteoporosis Reversal Program for alkalizing and unalkalizing foods?
-
Mary, I agree with the last sentence or your post regarding fat free and dairy free foods, but fiber free???
Much of our diet consists of fresh fruits and vegetables, and whole wheat grains (and both my husband and I have been very slim on this diet for years).
What would a fiber free diet look like?

To Feona. Stop traumatizing people with a weightissue. It is far more complicated for many than your remark. That just equals verbal abuse. Love people regardless and stop judging them for the package they come in.

I’m with you, Gertrude. It’s not as easy as it looks for some people to lose weight. There are many metabolic and psychological factors that can affect weight loss so you just can’t tell somebody to eat less and move more. Sometimes it just doesn’t happen no matter what they do, although it is still good advice for all of us. Just don’t point the finger at the overweight and obese and lump them all in one box. It doesn’t work that way, and besides that, it’s just plain mean spirited, and we could do with a little less of that in the world.
-
Gertrude, Feona is right.
Eating less (and right) and moving more makes one loose weight. Also get some willpower to do it!
Ever seen “the biggest looser”? If they can do it anyone can! Being overweight is just an excuse to be lazy . Yes is is hard but accepting yourself like that is stupid and will shorten your life tremendously!

I enjoy your emails and this particular one, made me laugh as I can just imagine your how embrassed you were..
I began to eat basil leaves. I put them in my salad or just munch on them… They are delicious!! I am going to try and grow some plants because, wow, it is good stuff…
I agree, eat less and move more is the key to losing weight….Fat free, fiber free and dairy free…the weight falls off you…LOL

Losing weight is simple – eat less, move more. That’s it.
-
Feona,
Your right. But if your eating a unhealthy diet of junk, l low cal, and fake sugers, your not going to lose weight either.

I recently received a newsletter from Danica Collins stating that yogurt and spinach-among other things-were acidifying. The letter was selling alkalinizing drops for your water. I got the impression that proper diet didn’t help our situations. I eat a lot of yogurt and spinach. I’d like to know what you think of these? The whole newsletter has really bothered me since I received it! Thank you
