If you feel alienated and ‘on your own’ because you are considering or are already following an alternative treatment for osteoporosis or osteopenia, I have great news for you: you are definitely not alone.
You see, I know firsthand that it’s not easy to turn away from your doctor’s mainstream treatment recommendations. And sometimes, it can feel as though you are swimming upstream, against the tide… in a cold and dark ocean.
I know it because I felt the same way during my quest for the truth about osteoporosis.
But even though there were times when I thought I might drown, I never sank to the bottom. And each time I found new knowledge, I gained momentum and rose to the surface with even more energy than before.
Each piece of information I gathered, gave me the strength I needed to pursue my goal and to finish my endeavor.
I kept reminding myself that pioneers are often ridiculed and ignored… that new discoveries are usually not readily accepted by the mainstream establishment.
And after putting my research into use, I finally solved my own osteoporosis problem and my bone density results increased by a whopping 20%.
When you realize that you’re part of a community that is growing by leaps and bounds, it becomes easier to decide against taking osteoporosis drugs and to follow alternative solutions.
Alternative therapies are used by a majority of adults over 50
CAM – short for Complementary and Alternative Medicine – is best described as a variety of medical and health care systems, practices, and products not considered to be part of mainstream medicine. Diet-based therapies and natural supplements are a very popular form of CAM. Of course, the Osteoporosis Reversal Program is a perfect example of a CAM therapy.
While there is little or no mention of CAM in the media or at your doctor’s office, it is rapidly gaining ground in the US. “Millions of Americans every year are turning to Complementary and Alternative Medicine,” says Richard L. Nahin, Ph.D.
Dr. Nahin was involved in a survey that shows startling results: 38 percent of American adults use CAM in one form or another (Barnes, PM; Bloom, B; Nahin, R. CDC National Health Statistics Report #12. CAM Use Among Adults and Children: United States, 2007. December 2008).
Surprisingly, those aged 50 to 59 are the most prevalent medical “adventurers” in the US. In fact, almost two-thirds of adults 50 and older use some form of CAM. (Barnes P, Powell-Griner E, McFann K, Nahin R., CDC Advance Data Report #343. Complementary and Alternative Medicine Use Among Adults: United States, May 2004).
So if until now you thought that you are part of a minority group, you can rest assured that that’s not the case.
Alternative Medicine now taught at Medical Schools
A well-known market principle is that demand for a certain product will sooner or later bring about a supply of that product. Fortunately, this also applies to CAM, and it is quite possibly the reason why a variety of alternative medicine courses are popping up in medical colleges throughout the United States.
Further supporting this important development, the curriculum director of the University of Minnesota’s alternative medicine department, Mary Jo Kreitzer, comments that “Consumers are demanding it (alternative therapies)… You could say that in that respect, we are advocates.”
And when several students attending Medical School at the University of Minnesota were interviewed by an Associated Press writer in 2007, they expressed their delight at having the opportunity to learn about alternative medicine and said they would be more willing to recommend a variety of CAM therapies.
This is a welcome change in the natural therapy arena, especially since researchers document that when patients tell doctors about their CAM use, most of the time physicians brush off the topic (Corbin Winslow L., Shapiro H., “Physicians want education about complementary and alternative medicine to enhance communication with their patients.” Archives of Internal Medicine, 2002 May 27).
This might be explained by a survey of doctors that confirms they feel unqualified to discuss CAM, mainly due to a lack of training in that area of treatment (Milden S.P., Stokols D. “Physicians’ attitudes and practices regarding Complementary and Alternative Medicine.” Behavioral Medicine, Summer 2004).
As the CAM trend continues to expand in the future, doctors will have to keep up with the latest alternative methods or be ready see their patient base shrink.
Small steps in the right direction
Even though many medical schools have elective classes on CAM therapies, students are not openly encouraged to enroll in those courses. For example, a spokeswoman for Harvard University said that Harvard does not advocate alternative medicine. This statement gives us a clear indication that the medical establishment, while recognizing that there is a growing need for doctors to learn about alternative therapies, is still unconvinced of its benefits.
The Save Our Bones community
And now, you and I are really part of something special. I’m talking about this natural osteoporosis community that we’re a part of. Did you know that an average of 16,100 osteoporosis ‘truth-seekers’ just like you are joining us every week?
It’s true. An average of 2,300 fellow ‘osteoporosis conquerors’ just like you and me are joining us EVERY day!
And at the time I’m writing this, tens of thousands of you have used the Osteoporosis Reversal Program to naturally conquer osteoporosis and osteopenia and increase your bone density naturally.
So when you wish to tackle osteoporosis without taking the commonly prescribed drugs, your knowledge-based convictions play a crucial role. Like millions of others, you can establish an open dialogue with your doctor, discuss what he or she recommends with the understanding that there are natural alternatives to the mainstream treatment.
And remember this: you are not alone.

I took Fosomax from 2001 – 2009, not realizing that I should not have exceeded 5 years. I did change locations, but interstingly no doctor picked up on how long I had been taking Fosomax. It was not until I saw a gynocologist, who made me aware. Well, I am on my own now, taking Calcium supplements, lifting weights 2 – 3 times per week, walking my dog twice a day and doing exercises that were prescribed for the osteoperosis back in 2001.
Rodi, I did`nt know that either and have also been taking Alendronate for more than 5 years, but just before Christmas I was getting heart palpations, and so went off it and now my paplations have gone after 2 months. Will not go on it again. I am not sure if I should take Calcium now or wait for 3 months and continue taking just the Magnesium I think I got this from Vivian saveourbones but can`t check it because her supplements and oxident sites are not working, I have been waiting for some weeks for them to be repaired. Andy advice on this. Trish
Vivian, I am enjoying everything and doing my best. I did receive the main book but never received all of the other pamphlets. I don’t know if this is the right spot to address this. Thank you for looking into this. Belinda Colvin, 70966 Sunrise Drive, Edwardsburg, Michigan
I quit Fosamax in February 2008, and followed your advice.I AM NOWTAKING “Bone Health take care. I am now building my bone from the center out! The Dr.is amazed. The exercises are good long with your help in correct meals. Thanks Vivian. Jim
Hi
Would you please tell me where do you find a good calcium?
what did you mean by bone health take care.
Belinda, I also purchased vivians advice and received the book. But I think the other information comes via the computer, the only problem is that the supplements and the oxidant pages are not working because there is supposed to be work being done on them, but that was some weeks ago. Sooooooooooooo Iam left in limbo.
Vivian, I tried to get your survey. For some reason, I cannot get a site when the address is in the body of the e-mail. I would like to take the survey. Could you send it as an attachment?
Thanks
I also cannot get to the supplement and oxidant page from vivian`s emil`s I wonder if any of the other sites are working. Will now go and have a look.
Hi Vivian,
I would suggest that Mary Taranto find other doctors, or go to a specialist for clot information. I also have had 3 blood clots in my legs & they were caused by insufficient anti-thrombin factor 5, & all 3 originated in my groin area. I’m looking for compounds that re-activates anti-clotting factors. I know of no research in this area of medicine.
Comments please.
Harry
Thanks for all of the information. I am going to use it and find the right treatment for me instead of the harmful drugs that doctors want to put you on.
Hi Vivian
Is calcium citrate better for me than calcium carbonate. I also have rheumatoid arthritis
I recently asked my pharmacist what the difference was between calcium citrate and calcium carbonate and she said “calcium carbonate is constipating”. I switched to calcium citrate and no more problem with that!
So far from what I have read from your information to me on email is that among one of the side effects of the Biophospates in all of the drugs given for osteoporosis are blood clots. Of all the literature I have read, that was not included in any of them. Two of my Doctors had not hear of that either. Digestive disorders, rashes, headaches to name a few but not blood clots. Can you verify that for me so that I can print it out and give it to the Dr.because I am dead set against taking Fosamax again or the IV of Reclast even though it bypasses the digestive tract. I have had 3 blood clots of which no one has a clue as to why. I would appreciate some more detail for me if possible. Thank you. I thoroughly enjoy your website.
Mary Taranto
Vivian you are my lifesaver. I won’t know results for a year but I am very happy with the knowledge you have shared with me through your program. I am choosing my foods very carefully and feel great with my more alkaline less acidic results. I am eating the same healthy foods that I did before, but now I am combining them in the balanced way. Your suggestions are is easy to follow and the wisdom you give are worth the price of your program. I appreciate the knowledge to take control myself using my foods only, and I know that I cannot tolerate the drugs offered by my doctor. Your solution is perfect for me. Thank-you, Vivian, for being there for me. I truly appreciate the natural approach.
Beverley
I don’t have osteoporosis, but I have some degenerative discs in my back so I can’t work anymore. I was on celebrex but now I only take glucosamine and condroiten with Msm plus tylenol 3. I live on the northern west coast so the cold rainy weather bothers me a bit in winter, but I prefer to stay off the chemical drugs. I find a lot of inspiration in your posts thanks Ed
Dear Vivian,
Because of my curviture of the spine, I am getting so if I walk any distance at all, I have such a hard time breathing. I try to exercise regularly. Do you think there is any hope for me even doing natural. I don’t take any prescription drugs. I just take calcium and magnesium(balanced). and vitamins.
I took that reclaspt the doctor ordered and didn’t know until after I took it, the nurse said there was 17% chemotherepy in it.I’ll never take it again. I haven’t felt real good for a long time since I took, and feel that is the reason. I tried to order your book one day, but I never got it, but I didn’t get charged for it either..
I find it very interesting that countries with a low Ca+ diet have a lower incidence of osteoporosis. Does too much Ca+ block Magnesium? Do dairy product raise pH and, therefore,Ca+ in our bones?
Claudia,
The correct ca/mg ratio is 2:1. Dairy products lower the pH (the lower the number the more acidic the pH).
Have you heard of AlgaeCal for Osteoporosis?
I am trying to decide on taking this or not.
What is your opinion……
thanks
Pauline
Yes, AlgaeCal is an excellent source of organic calcium. I recommend it.
Where can I buy it? Please, I need a good resource of calcium.
I have tried the osteoporosis “pills” plus the nasal spray and had side effects from all. I wasn’t on any of them for very long. The Reclast was not recommended because of all the bad side effects from it. So I was given the advice of just “loading” up on the special vitamins etc. My problem is I am also gluten intolerent so I have to watch the ingredients in everything. I have your program and appreciate the e-mails. Hoping for improvement.
Elaine- my husband is also gluten intolerant- huge issue- if you go to the health food store for your vitamins and supplements, you’ll find a bunch that are aware of the allergy issues and list all the “inactive” ingredients, and pride themselves on being free of gluten, corn, soy, yeast, etc….
dear vivian- I am taking vitaminB complex100 which is 100mgs of the Bvitamins. should I start muyself on the ind,B vitamins—B12 and B3? an answer would b e appreceiated..love it that I am no taking pills anymore. Jeanne
Hi Vivian, I am 57 years old & have been diagnosed with severe osteoporosis (-4.1). My Doctors had booked me in to have an Aclasta infusion IV & I cancelled the appointment. Currently I am taking a more natural approach with laser acupuncture for a back injury, hoping this will also stimulate bone regrowth.I am also taking numerous natural remedies including calcium, magnesium, d3. I am also taking supergreens to reduce the acidity in my body.I was wondering if you know of any program that involves stem cell research? I would really like to be a participant in this type of treatment.
I am 46 and have had my uterus and ovaries removed after a large benign ovarian tum was discovered. The doctors now want me to take HRT or alendronate (fosfomax) to prevent osteoporosis (my mum has it and is quite bad). I do not want to take any horrible drugs, I want to prevent this by diet and exercise. I have been a vegetarian for nearly 20 years and have exercised by regular walking and cycling for the last 12 years. I eat a lot of fruit, veg and nuts and seeds now after reading about osteoporosis and take vitamin and calcium supplements. My consultant says that diet makes no difference which I think is utter rubbish. I feel bullied and sometimes wonder whether I am doing the right thing but reading your posts give me hope and make me feel that I am following the right path.
I am now waiting for the results of a bone scan, so I have a starting point to compare to in a couple of years!
My friends all say that it is cruel to deny poor little old ladies their tea, chocolate, and krumpets, etc. Cruel to be kind, I suppose. Because, if we are to be healthy we must eat like rabbits. That is very hard to do for women with families that do not believe that nutritional prudence has any effect; and most people do not. I spent a weekend explaining to my husband and his mother how important it is to avoid bad foods. The responded by bringing me a chocolate moose and whipped creme cake. My mother in law who is 80 says she does nothing for her osteopenia and she is still going strong. So, it is hopeless to convince some people; and it is a lonely battle to travel this disciplined path. Altho, I sometimes fall off the wagon, I feel the effort and striving is worth it.
Dear Vivian,
I read your book and was convinced of the dangerous side effects of the
most drugs for osteoporosis & osteopenia; I feel I am blessed to learn so much through your famous book and I stop taking Boniva after 10 months;I live in a sunny city, where I benefit everyday from the sun ,I have a healthy diet with a lot of vegetables and fruits as I follow your directives and I take a good calcium (new chapter) 3000mg daily +D3 and 1 daily women vitamin, I exercise 5 to 6 days a week ;so I hope m next DBS will show improvement in the near futur! I will let you know my dear Vivian; Thanx a lot for all your hard work ,your researchs are
precious for all of us, I am proud of you and wish you good healty bones and long life
appreciate the information. I have always been a believer in alternative medicine and approach to healthy living. Thanks again for all of your very appropriate research. Virginia
Vivan, thank you again for another encouraging e-mail about increasing my bone density without drugs. I’m definitely eating much more in the line of vegetables and fruits and drinking distilled water. I have lost about 8 lbs which I’m very happy about and do feel better. I’m hoping that next August when I request another bone density test….that my dr. will be surprised and tell me some good news that my bone density had improved. I will then tell him what I did and how wonderful the “save your bones” program is.
With appreciation,
Terry
Thank you Vivian!
I am so happy to be part of this natural movement to cure my osteoporosis. I can’t wait to see my bone density results in 2010. I took Actonal for seven years and stopped it in 2007. Here’s hoping, Arlene
Hi Vivian:
I have started eating vegetables and fruits
about a couple of months and I can tell you that
is a healthy way to build bone density, as of yet I haven’t fill my prescription for the generic fosamax. that my doctor prescribed. I have follow your book to the letter. I also eat
some protein like you explain in your book.
I also take syntroid, but my doctor tells me that am at a greater risk of getting osteoporosis. Well, I got it tell you, am following my own advise. I exercise and walk
3 to 4 miles when not working I also do some
weight lifting (upper body). I have been
walking for about eleven years. Thanks to your
book and your good advise I don’t like taking
drugs that do more harm than good.
Thank you,
After 5 months of taking fosamax, even though I didn’t experience any side effects, I stopped. I’ve decided to save my bones the natural way with diet, exercise, calcium with vitamin D. Hopefully this will be enough to keep me from falling and getting a fracture.
My Dr. insisted I take Fosamax (asap)…weelky..I took it 3 times and ‘never again’. Side effects include…stiff neck, tightness in chest, dizziness, blood shot eyes, depression, trouble swollowing…this was enought for me to stop. Reported this to Dr. and he said I should try Boneva…it would be better for me. I felt like saying…’are you crazy’, I didn’t, just won’t take drugs. Meanwhile, now I feel fine, but still dealing with blood shot eyes.
I am very happy to hear that our community is growing. I recently have been turned down by two doctors because I will not give in to taking traditional treatments for my osteoporosis. My last doctor said she does not understand what I am doing because it was not part of her training & did not want me to leave upset. I wasn’t upset because I believe so strongly in what I am doing, but disappointed that I do not have a general doctor if I should happen to need one. I have a natural hormone dr., gyn, & a cardiologist which should cover most of whatever I need; if not there’s always the emergency room. Thank you Vivian and let’s keep heal ourselves without chemicals.
Thanks again Vivian, Everyday I meet another friend (or talk on the phone) and find that they have been given the “hard sell” on the drugs for their bone health!!! I’ve been juicing carrots, celery as well as adding cabbage leaves and often an apple. Sometimes I use chinese spinach instead of cabbage – and because the “waste ” is still quite wet – I eat that as well. Somedays I don’t feel like the juice – so I have a glass of either rice milk or soy with a tablespoon of grated tumeric root – my dietician told me to have as much tumeric as I desire. I mix it through my plantain (green bananas) – and spread it on my bread – I bought a mortar and pestle to crush the root – and though I do get yellow fingers – it does wear off. I am only trying all these things Vivian because of your helpful information from the beginning. Many Blessings Kelsey, AUSTRALIA.
Kelsey…you can buy good quality tumeric at the health food stores. Soy of any kind is bad for you. Soybeans are poison until soaked in a certain kind of acid bath to make them fit to eat or drink.
DIANNE:
Í do not know where did you get that infotmation about soy beans, you have to see the stadistics, and compare people whose diet is with soy bean and those who do not have this diet.
Soy bean is very good for health, in my opinion and what I have searched about it-
Vivian,
I have to tell you, I just received my report for my latest bone density exam.
Now, mind you, for several years I took prescriptions for osteoporosis. Every year the report was the same or worse, further to the negative.
This year, my T-score, for the first time was
better, (only by one tenth of a percent) at least it wasn’t to the negative.
I can’t even say I have been the best patient to stay on my diet. I try, but slip a lot.
Who knows how good my report would have been if
I had been more cautious.
I also had a large object fall against my leg and had a huge bruise for a long time. If my bones were in as bad a shape as I was led to believe by my Dr., without a doubt, I would have had a broken leg. There must be flexability in my leg bone, instead of being more brittle from drugs, had I stayed on them.
Thank you for your info and updates.
Judy
It is nice to read your latest email re not being alone….. I do often feel isolated and think people think me quirky for not following main stream therapies for my osteo – I still feel I can not openly discuss it with my doctor as he does not have much tolerance for Alternative Medicine. So thanks for the encouragement and maybe in time common sense will prevail instead of people concerned with making money and not helping people’s health.
HAPPY IN GROWING HEALTHY BONES THE BEST WAY!!!!
Thank you Vivian for the emails I am going to get some strontium trace minerals and what ever go’s along with taking it.
I am not to keen on my endocrinologist he is always trying to sell me on the iv reclast and I do not want it and now that read about the women who had blood clots and a heart problem I will never try it.
I will stay in touch thank you Patti
Hi Vivian,
I just want to say thanks for the encouragement. I love getting your E-mails.I know I did the right thing going off all the osteoporosis poison. I, read your book and followed your advice on diet, excercise and supplements. I have never felt better! Natural is the way to go,not dangerous chemicals.
Just wanted you to know how much I appreciate
all that you are doing.
Gerri D.
Hi Vivian, Thank you for your words of encouragement. It is easy when the initial euphoria wears off to slip a little and doubt the value of the new ideas which I am learning. I know they are well researched and I thank you most sincerely for that.
The knowlege that there are so many new entrants to the army of those who are committed to exploring better ways of looking after our health is very encouraging indeed.
My thanks to you as ever, Christine
My doctor will try to talk me into drug treatment once again on the next visit coming up next week. I am pretty sure it is the once a year treatment not sure if it is a pill or I.V. I will do neither but will look into the natural trace mineral strontium and also Ostera. Thank you for the update via e-mail. Enjoy them so much and know that my gut instincts are correct. No to drugs for cholesterol and for osteoporosis.
Hi Vivian:
Thans so very much for keeping in touch with all of us. I have a friend who was on Fosomax for five years and had to have all of her teeth pulled. In addition had heart problems and the first thing the doctor told her was to discontinue the Fosomax. She is now taking the injection Reclast and so far has not had any problems. I have sent her some of your emails and pertinent information but she still wants to follow her doctor’s instructions. I feel she is making a big mistake and have often told her so. I’m praying she will see the light. I am so grateful I found you when I did. Keep the emails coming. God Bless you.
Anne
Dear Vivian,
I am happy to tell you that I saw my Dr-osteop-endocrinologist.My bd test has improvedFrom last year to yesterday, moved to osteopenia especiall in spine from -3.0 to -2.0 & inhips -2.8 to 2.0.
My Dr said it is all your alkalizing dietdidit.I /especially pleased to tell you,I follow diet to neutralise my acid radicals, take my Ezorb -the best Ca & I exercise 3 times may be by walking yoga-not much weight lifting. Thank you so much. I found the right method at right time. Your book – knowledge I spread it to all-drs-friends-family-patiens- ALL!!!!!. Thank you so much, Vivian, I love you
Suseela
wonderful valuable information in all the emails. Thank you.
Vivian,
Upon the constant urging of a new Primary physician last Feb. 18, 2009, I had the new “Reclast” I.V. infusion. I’ve had deep tissue pain and bone and joint pain every since. Twelve days after the infusion, I was rushed to the hospital with chest pain. I was told I had a heart attack and they also discovered extensive blood clots in my lungs. I also had a blood clot in my left leg which they believe may have been the origin of the clots in my lungs. I was placed on Coumadin & a short time later, I suffered a massive G.I. bleed requiring 6 units of whole blood and fresh frozen plasma. The bleeding was from an undiagosed ulcer.
On July 2, 2009, I had open heart surgery. I’m still suffering from deep tissue pain and bone pain which I am positive was caused by the “Reclast” infusion (for Osteoporosis) I received…. but no one will listen to me or believe me when I tell them of my suspicions.
Please tell your readers to NOT accept the ‘Reclast’ infusion! My life is a constant battle with the pain now and before this ‘Reclast’ infusion, I didn’t have any pain at all. If you feel uncomfortable about a suggested treatment for Osteoporosis, please don’t simply take the first doctor’s word for it! Get a 2nd or 3rd opinion and then, think long and hard before you decide to do something as drastic as allowing a drug to be infused into your body via I.V. therapy.
i was told by two specialists that my last bone density test was 3.3.
the one before was 2.5. I exercise, eat properly and take Vit.D and calcium. They both told me it is time to go on Reclast. I don’t mind the injection just the many things that can happen with the injection. I have angina but have been feeling good, a little arthritis too, but cant complain. I don’t know what to do about the Reclast. Any information you give me is appreciated. I have your book.
I read all the negatives about Reclast, take cholesterol meds and have family history of family dying in mid-50’s from stroke or heart ailments; otherwise am VERY physically active, take vitamin supplements and mostly vegetarian. After suffering from constant back pain, forcing me to sleep on my back and visiting Chiropractors often, I choose to take the Reclast in early Jan 2010. I’m delighted to have NO side effects, can now sleep on my sides, take MANY mile hikes/camp-outs, and do yoga without my back going out immediately! I’m happy for now. It beats Fossmax and I’m not in pain!!!
Judy,
Thanks for sharing your Reclast story with the Save Our Bones community… Get well fast!
So much of this is guided my intuition and common sense . One has to find what suits the individual, as what suits one doesn’t always suit another. This is difficult when the pain sets in and you grab at anything to relieve it. At 78 I have no fear of dying but would like to remain agile and pain free as much as possible so I keep up gentle Yoga exercises ,and a healthy diet and right thinking as much as possible ( Im not perfect and slip up at times !) a Buddhist philosopy helps. All the best from an Aussie Down Under.
Vivian
Your dedication is truly appreciated! We could
use more people like you, in the medical profession. People before profit!
Thank you for the new information. I am always interested in learning all that I can about natural remedies and new findings. Also valuable is the conversation and comments of your online community. Thank you for sharing.
Actually, the reason that I began exploring other options following my bone density scan was the price of the drug, Evista, that was prescribed. The med. would have broke me over time, so I turned to the Internet and was fortunate to find Vivian and much information of value.
Andrea Moore
I go to a world renowned doctor who is the head of the osteoporosis research program at a major university. I have gone to him for 8 years and he has not been able to improve my bones. I have tried every natural therapy, exercise and some drugs. Nothing has helped and my hips lost 20% density last year and have never had a gain. I have had numerous spinal fractures and ankle fractures from osteoporosis even with the natural therapies. One year ago I started taking strontium, a natural trace mineral. My doctor said they would watch it. I went in for a bone density after being on strontium one year. My density INCREASED 12% IN BOTH MY HIPS AND MY SPINE IN ONE YEAR!! My doctor was thrilled and said, “I cannot argue with success”! I have friends who have taken strontium for 3 years and they no longer have osteoporosis. Research on this mineral can be looked at at the New England Journal of Medicine if you put in Strontium Ranelate. This cannot be obtained in America but you can take the natural trace mineral from a health food store and receive as great or greater benefit. This has saved my life and I feel stronger and stronger. Praise God.
Excellent Beverly! Yes it works! You put the Glory where it belongs, “Praise GOD!”
Beberly:
Would you please explain how you take the STRONTIUM PLEASE GIVE DETAILS,
thank you-
Nora
Some say that strontium is more opaque than calcium on the x-ray used to measure bone density; it would be nice to have a test to verify the actual strength of our bones.
I joined a group of seniors to a pre-christmas show, a lady told me that her mom and her were taking actonel for a couple of years for their osteoporosis. I told her that about your book and she ignored me. Anyway I told her that I stopped taking Actonel 6 months ago and I watched my diet, a lot of veggies and fruits and daily exercises at our YMCA and I feel better every day. I told her about the chimicals in actonel, she said she researched it already. She don’t believe in natural healing.
Thanks for being a Save Our Bones “ambassador”, Erlinda!
Vivian,
My last bone density test showed slight improvement. I have been off of Fosomax and Actonel for about a year now. Have been on more calcium and vitamin D. I was excited to see my results. My doctors assistant called to tell me that my doctor wanted me to continue doing what I am doing. How wonderful is that?
Thank you so much for your good work and sharing with all of us!
Love,
Junette
Lovely to hear from you again Vivian. Your encouragement is always appreciated.
Kindest regards
Good to know that I am not alone. Thanks. I am taking Ostera recommended by my nutritionist and 3,000 units of D; and of course calcium w magnesium. I will have bone scan next month, after 6 months of the Ostera. Stay tuned for results. Are you lifting weights & walking, I am. I was on Fosamax for 10+ years. Never improved.
I am taking Ostera too recommended by a nutriionist. I also take additional Vitamin D and Calcium.
Vivian, it is very encouraging to receive your emails on a regular basis. I think I would have felt on my own but for your regular contact. I also very much appreciate the videos of other peoples experiences and progress.
Please keep it up Vivian and thank you so much
Allan
I enjoy your new insights and updates so much. I have bought both of your books and so do enjoy them. I also read and save every email you send to me.
Thanks for doing this.
Vivian,
Thank you for the continued information and direction. Your encouragement for natural improvements to bone health has given myself, and so many, the inspiration to move forward with a daily routine to improve bone density.
Thank you so much!
Don’t know first-hand about any of the other brand names for fighting osteoporosis, but I do know about Fosamax. My sister-in-law was prescribed Fosamax & thru the years of taking it, her thigh bones were WEAKENED to the point of her breaking 1. Unfortunately, the column in the Dallas Morning News written by 2 physicians had this very information in their column AFTER her thigh had been broken. That was 2+ years ago & she is still taking therapy!! Pheuma companies couldn’t care less about this — just look @ the bottom line! Thank you for letting gripe! Thanks for all of your info.
Vivian, thanks for this information.
Fosamax made me so sick, I had trouble functioning for a couple of days after taking it. So glad I stopped and got on Vivian’s web site!
Thanks for all ur info, but what can u tell me about calcium being bad in a pill. I heard this morning on Fox News w/Dr Rosenthol that the pill deposits somthing n our arteries and causes heart attacks. He advised us to get our calcium thru our daily diet. I was taking 2000mg a day in pill form, now how do I get 2000mg from my diet. What info can you supply me with
Bea
hi vivian – i insisted on consulting an endocrinologist who immediately upped my vitamin “D” uptake to 5,000 daily, reduced my methimazole to every second day and has ordered additional bloodwork to check on calcium – when i think that my dr. with 27 vit”D” wanted me to take 1000units/per day – claiming that the norm is 35 – well – he is way behind times – i am in control – sara
Hello Vivian 🙂
Thank you for sending me your article, “You Are Not Alone”.
I do feel the need to check everything that comes my way now to stay healthy and using natural remedies as opposed to popping pills. I appreciate all the research and hard work that you do to help all sufferers who have bone issues.
Thank you again
best wishes
Marysia 🙂
thanks for the info. It helps to know we are gathering others who are following a natural program to fight osteoporosis, I have no idea how my Doctor will handle this but I certainly feel better!
